I would hazard a guess that most of us have pretty simple expectations when it comes to living in Simi Valley. To live in a community where you can reasonably expect to be safe in your home. To raise your family in a community where you can expect them walk the streets in safety. Shop and enjoy evenings out with your family reasonably expecting to be safe.
For a very long time Simi Valley was ranked very high by the FBI as one of America’s Safest Cities. I want that ranking back.
The pay cuts forced on the Police Department was more of an attempt to break the collective bargaining power of the SVPOA than it was at balancing the budget.
I will not be part of an arrogant city management trying to dictate unfair and unnecessary labor infringements on an already overburdened underfunded and understaffed force.
This atmosphere of mistrust must be cleared. I want out Police Officers to know that they are not going to be treated unfairly by me. I want them to concentrate combating the growing gang crime problem not on looking for a better job somewhere else.
I am the only candidate running that has real world experience in keeping neighborhoods safe. It’s going to take a partnership with our Police Department, and an active citizen involvement to make and keep our neighborhoods safe.
Our Police Department still wastes money by conducting all of their firearms training out of town, This is not the Police Department’s fault, land was offered free of charge from Waste Management so the Police could conduct their firearms training here instead of at Angeles Range 35 miles away it was not accepted by the current city council.
I will take an active and visible role in every effort to make Simi Valley the Safest City in America again. |
